[No spoilers as much as possible] Nintendo -go is a masterpiece remake! Live Alive preceding preview

After 28 years, the long-awaited revival!

On September 2, 1994, the remake version of the Super Nintendo RPG software Live Alive released by Square (now Square Enix) will appear on the Nintendo Switch on July 22, 2022!

Among them, this time, we will deliver the early play report of Western edition, Keno, Bakumatsu, and SF. We will deliver the update contents of the remake version without spoilers as much as possible so that those who have played the original version can enjoy it for the first time.

Before you touch the content, let's briefly introduce the work outline.

About Live Alive

Live Alive is an omnibus type RPG. Players will adventure with seven unique protagonists designed by seven manga artists, with seven stories unfolding in different historical backgrounds. In the end of the Tokugawa period, the end of the Tokugawa period, the western play, the science fiction, and the world of various films can be experienced in various movies, and it is up to the player to play in the order. Unlike orthodox RPGs, one of the features is the game composition that changes according to the story, such as no battle or map movement depending on the scenario to play.

The battle system uses a unique system that adds ATB (active time battle) to the tactics simulation in a checker battle that proceeds with the attack range and timing while watching the attack range and timing.

Comparison with the remake version in a large frame

The original was drawn in dot paintings, but this work uses a video expression called HD-2D that combines dot painting and 3DCG. Although the same technology is used in the company's Octopus Traveler and Triangle Strategy, the way of showing it is slightly different according to this work, and it is exquisitely adjusted so that it does not break the original version of the atmosphere. 。 Also, in the original version, the characters on the map, which were drawn in one square, have the same dot paintings and are more alive.

This producer Takashi Tokita is a person who also served as a scenario director of the original version. This work, which Mr. Tokida made with Sobayu Kaku in the modern age, is quite user-friendly in terms of system compared to the original. Stress factors have been considerably reduced, such as the fun of solving elements such as mystery solving elements, and it is easier to aim for a destination with familiar maps and radar displays in modern RPGs. In the battle, you can see the characteristics of your skills and items at a glance, and you can also enjoy the battle while calculating the new enemy HP and ATB gauge, weaknesses and resistance, and more finely.

The music is a complete supervision of the original composition, Yoko Shimomura, and is a remaster of all songs. The theme song revived by the newly arranged full orchestra performance is a masterpiece. It is no different from the original that you can enjoy music of various genres according to different worldviews, but the noise of the Super NES era has disappeared, and each song has become more unique.

In this work, the story is further included in the story with a voice by gorgeous voice actors. The Japanese version is a casting of Tokita, and the elements that are grinned unintentionally are scattered. This is the first time that it is localized in a foreign language, but you can switch voice and text languages from the title option screen without switching the Nintendo Switch system language.

The menu screen is easier to see with the remake. Characters that show different expressions every time they open are also cute. Depending on the scenario, the details of the menu screen and the tricks that change the balloon are still alive.

Play Report

Western edition, Kao, Bakumatsu SF preview

This time, in addition to the Keno, Bakumatsu, SF, which has already been distributed as a trial version, we will play the early Western edition. I will tell you while delving into the remake elements and the characteristics of each chapter. First of all, report from Western edition which is not included in the trial version.

Western edition ─ Wandering

The main character Sandown Kid CV Akio Otsuka

Overview
The stage is western America in the pioneering era. The protagonist is the prize gold head, which is the wilderness. He happened to be asked to eliminate the union group that threatens the peace of the city at the Saxes Town. He works with the people of the city to set up a trap, and by the dawn, he will meet the Crazy Bunch.

This work is different depending on each scenario while taking the same RPG shape. The number of battles in the western part is the smallest among them. It depicts a drastic one-night event that occurs in the western city, and is suitable for the degree of freedom of the same edition, which is suitable for the freedom of the same, and is suitable for getting used to the game system. If you get lost, it is recommended to start with this edition.

Remake version element The enjoyability has been greatly increased by adding an radar function that displays the destination in the remake version and an effect that shines where the items are hidden. In addition, the sound of eight bells sounded by the dawn of the Crazy Bunch is visible, making it easier to understand how long it will remain.

Just as I tried it with a western drama dot, it was as if a western drama movie was dropped into a short dot RPG format, but the adoption of HD-2D has evolved the graphics and production surface further. I am. The wind blowing in the western town and the sand smoke that rises... The scene that was a plane in the original is actually spreading in front of you, exceeding your imagination. Fans at that time would be hot just by looking at the kid who drove through the wilderness in the wilderness.

The background is CG, but the character on the map is a dot picture that has been remade as it is, and the old fans can play naturally without any discomfort. The appearance that revives beautifully without breaking the atmosphere is very impressive, and it may be presented in the world as a successful example of the HD-2D remake that Dragon Quest III etc.

The music has evolved without discomfort from the Super Nintendo version, and the sound that was ringing in the brain at the time was reproduced as a live sound. While playing, I tweeted unintentionally as the same as the original. (Of course, as mentioned above, it is not the same as mentioned above) This work is that the composition Yoko Shimomura was in charge of the first time after joining Square (at that time). At one point, the price of soundtracks rises, and the original songs that showed the legendary popularity were the splendor, but that's why the expectations and pressure for the remake version would not have been extraordinary. In the western edition, please pay attention to the cool whistling that is perfect for the world view and the performance of Sancho Delos Panchos.

At the time of the announcement, the casting of the voice actors, which had many praise from the old fans, was gorgeous and uncomfortable, so I was able to play while feeling the same as the original. (Of course, there is no voice in the original) It is also a good idea to dare to make the sound in English and enjoy the western drama as if watching the subtitles.

If you add about the production side, the small story, this, and this are remade with respect. In the play, a character with the name related to the genre of the scenario appeared and grinned, but please be assured that there is no change in the name in the remake.

SF edition ─ Museum ─

The main character cube No CV

Overview
The stage is a spacecraft returning to the earth. The protagonist is an AI-equipped robot. From the viewpoint of the robot Cube, which was just created by the crew Kato, we will solve the incident to five crew members in a closed space called a spaceship.

The SF edition, which starts with a scene reminiscent of Stanley Cubrick's Travel in Space (1968), does not basically have a battle scene. The only battle is the in-game game Captain Square installed in the refresh room of the crew. Every scenario challenges various configurations while taking the shape of RPG, but the SF is particularly unique. It has an adventure game element and a suspense horror atmosphere. If you are not good at horror, it will be ant to consider playing during bright hours.

Remake version element Following the western edition, the maps and radar are dramatically improved. Surprisingly, the stress of I don't know where you are in a surprisingly wide spaceship disappears, and the search is fun. In the preview, I couldn't play scenes that would run around like the movie Alien (1979), but the map and radar functions will surely be useful throughout the whole story.

The graphic side is also drawn in the HD-2D so that the spacecraft Kogito Ergosm can be felt more depth, and the depiction of the crew sleeping room where the crew sleeps is also impressive. The story of the original version of the dot and quietly and lightly, was quite scary, but the power of the painting itself was so powerful that it was overwhelmed by each scene.

When using a coffee machine, the coffee was only in the item column in the original, but in the remake version, the cube brewed coffee on the head is cute. The name of the characters that had been scattered with Corporal Darth and Corporal Darth and SF fans.

Norisuke Ushio, who has gained popularity in the play of Devilman Crybaby and Voice shape, participated in the song arrangement of SF, which has an impressive contrast between still and movement. The in-game BGM of Captain Square is the same as then! In the original, the credit of Presmed by Arumat Soft 2099 was displayed, but the remake version was released on September 2, 1994. This day is the release date of the Super Nintendo version Live Alive.

Isao edition ─ Tradition

The protagonist Shinkoyama Kenno CV Hiroya Ishimaru

Overview
The stage is Mt. Daishi, China. The protagonist is Kenjin who uses Kempo Shinzan Ken. The story begins when he gets off the mountain and finds his disciple to find his old successor. He meets three disciples on the way and trains to convey the secret of Shinzan Ken. It depends on how the disciples will be the successor.

Live Alive has a unique configuration, but Keno is one of the obedient RPGs. There is a map switch, and you will enter the battle with the encounter with the enemy symbol. It is a distinctive part of China, not the medieval fantasy on the royal road, in China, and the three disciples can train kempo.

Remake version element I feel that the remake version Keno has changed a lot in a good way. It is the effect of the newly added voice. Hiroya Ishimaru, the old teacher, is Jackie Chen, and Hiroya Mizushima, the role of Samo, is in charge of dubbing the stars in Samo Han Kimpo, who is also the origin of the character's name. In other words, it can be said that this remake version Keno is indirectly casting a legendary star!

The scenes of the nature, bamboo grove, and lively markets, which were beautifully reproduced with the HD-2D, are all that you will want to see. And the popular songs that are popular with fans, including Bird's Sky Flying Use Swimming Swimming, are reproduced with live sounds, and just playing this scenario is just watching a new movie. You can enjoy such a feeling. Personally, it was this Keno that changed the most image in a good way by being remade.

Bakumatsu edition

The main character Oboro Maru CV Hashizume Tomohisa

Overview
The stage is in the late Tokugawa period in Japan. The protagonist is Ninja's rag. In order to rescue a man trapped in the castle of King Otoin, the Rado Maru, who is expected to be rough but the most prospective in the flame ninja army, infiltrates himself.

The number of battles is up to the player. Because it can be hidden by the hidden technique taught by Hayate, the head of the flame magic army, aim for 0 slashing without hiding from the enemy, but all the people are defeated. It depends on the player, even if you aim for a person slashing. It proceeds only in Oote Castle throughout the whole story, but the castle itself is wide, and there are many hidden elements such as karakuri and mystery solving, and it is a chapter that is quite playful.

Remake version element A large and easy-to-get castle is kind with the map function. It is an impression that the depth comes out due to the 3D, and the fine adjustment has been completed, and the hiding makes it easier to escape. The castle has pitfalls and a variety of traps in the Karakuri door, but this is also more friendly than the original, and the RPG beginner was attracted to the character design of Mr. Gosho Aoyama and inadvertently chose the first scenario. It is also hard to break.

The castle that has been remade with the HD-2D can be felt even more, and the camera angle changes depending on the position of the movement, so it will be a very picture. The space and directing that could not be expressed in dots, such as Shiro Amakusa surrounded by swelling, and a little outlooking space in the castle, are complemented wonderfully. For music, the Japanese musical instrument unit HIDE × HIDE, which is familiar to the music event of Live Alive, is participating in the shakuhachi and the middle rod three-season line, which is very cool.

summary

This work has only been remade by Director Takaji Tokita, who is easy to play even in modern times and can be enjoyed more smoothly. The three scenarios, Bakumatsu, Keno, and SF, which I introduced this time, are currently being distributed and can be played in advance. Save data can be taken over to the product version as it is, so it is a good idea to experience fans from 28 years and game players who are newly touched on masterpieces.

As an aside, I love professional wrestling. What triggered this was the impact of Live Alive. It is out of the range of this introduction, but it was completely captivated while digging up the professional wrestling story that was frequently used in the game, including the techniques and characters in the modern edition, Misawa Oba Muto in the near future. You may find the trigger of Live Alive, where various essence is condensed, and your like?
