The Witcher 4 uses Unreal Engine 5, so that the world does not break apart from your feet

CD project is known to work on a new game in the Witcher Universe. Unfortunately, we do not know concrete details about the story or even the gameplay, and the title seems to need a few years.

The most interesting thing about the announcement was the information that the studio at The Witcher: A New Saga Begins no longer will rely on their in-house REDEGINE, but changes to the brand new Unreal Engine 5. Now there are more details about cooperation between CD project and Epic Games.

Engine change should provide more stability

Witcher 4 Announced -- Using Unreal Engine 5! UE 5 comes as called: As part of the State of Unreal Show, where a new Tomb Raider of Crystal Dynamics was announced, CD project to be decided to set the Unreal Engine 5 in the future.

A year ago, a UE 5 demo excited the attention of the studio. In a medieval village a billboard can be seen, on which someone is looking for a monster hunter. Sounds like the Witcher, the people thought. About a wink with the fence post from EPIC?

More stability: Of course, the real reason for the change of technical nature. The UE 5 has an incredibly good support for Open World Games and promise a high stability that is immeasurable in the genre with all its variables. The name Cyberpunk 2077 does not fall, but it is obvious that CD project wants to prevent another bug firm.

In order to reconcile all the possibilities [an Open-World], you absolutely need a stable environment in which you can also make greater changes without falling apart 1,600 other places in the game.

Can prevent the new Engine Crunch? At the end of the trip with The Witcher 4 "something incredible emergence". This time, however, the well-being of the staff should not be sacrificed for this purpose. There is no crunch in development, so promise.

The change to the Unreal Engine could help, because many teams would already use them and use their experiences together with EPIC to make the technology more flexible and user-friendly.

With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt you can also play the end of the trilogy on the road:

The Witcher 4 will probably not have a Geralty as protagonists

A medallion with a lynx is everything we have seen from The Witcher 4 so far. What concretely means, we can only speculate. Relatively sure, however, is that Geralt is sent in pension, because his story came to an end with the completion of the trilogy. Unfortunately, it will probably take a long time until we learn more about the game.

What do you promise from change to the UE 5 for The Witcher 4?
