Square Enix reveals the release date of Chocobo GP

Earlier this year, Square Enix ran the curtain of Chicago GP, an exclusive Nintendo Switch racing game based on the Final Fantasy franchise. We have not seen a lot of information since then, but the editor revealed today that the game will be launched on March 10! The runner will be launched together Chicago GP Lite, a free download version of the game. As its name implies, the Lite version is a more limited offer, but includes the prologue for history mode, the ability to play in online GP mode, local multiplayer with at least one player owner player and more.

In addition to these features, Chicago GP Lite also gives players the possibility of transferring their progress to the full version of the game, in case they choose to make a physical or digital purchase. The Lite version of the game offers fewer runners, and players will not be able to create lobbies, but it looks like an excellent way for players to become familiar with him before making a purchase. I could convince some Switch owners from otherwise they would not have tried the game!

A new trailer of Chicago GP was shared by Nintendo and can be found on the Tweet embedded below.

Chocobo GP | Release Date Announcement Trailer As readers can see in the new advance, Chicago GP seems to be strongly inspired by Kart 8 Deluxe. The original Chicago racing launched in PlayStation in 1999, and this game is clearly based on that title, but some images also remember Nintendo's own Kart-Racer. Given the fact that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been an incredible success story in Nintendo Switch, it is difficult to blame Square Enix for trying to aim at that audience. In fact, Mario Kart fanatics have been asking for a new entry to the series for years. While Chicago GP will undoubtedly be something kind, maybe help fill the void until we really get a new Mario Kart!
